Whitestown, IN [March 12, 2026] – The Town of Whitestown is excited to announce the upcoming groundbreaking ceremony for its newest community park, Maurer Commons Park, located on the former Wrecks Property.
The 14-acre park will provide a new location for recreation and community gathering in Whitestown. The amenities include a splash pad, playground, basketball court, pickleball courts, a small amphitheater, open greenspace, and additional features.
“This park represents another important step in continuing to invest in amenities that enhance quality of life for our residents,” said Town Manager Katie Barr. “We’re eager to bring a new park to residents on the west side of I-65 and expand opportunities for families to enjoy outdoor recreation.”
The name Maurer Commons Park honors the history of the property and the Maurer family. The site was formerly home to Wrecks Inc., a company founded in 1949 by brothers Michael B. “Mickey” Maurer and Julius Maurer. The brothers moved the business from Indianapolis to Whitestown in the early 1950s. The Town felt it was important to recognize the property’s history and the Maurer brothers’ contributions by naming the new park in their honor.
The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony and celebrate the beginning of this exciting project.
“Maurer Commons Park is being designed with amenities that residents of all ages can enjoy,” said Assistant Town Manager/Director of Parks, Dominic Cornett. “From cooling off at the splash pad to playing pickleball or having a picnic in the greenspace, the park will offer new ways for people to spend time outdoors and connect with one another.”

Parking Information: Parking will be available at the groundbreaking site, 7060 S. Indianapolis Road, Whitestown. Overflow parking will be provided at the Little League Central Region Complex, 7185 S. Indianapolis Road, Whitestown, Indiana.
