Lebanon Community School Corporation is proud to announce that Mr. Rick Hunt has been appointed as the new principal of Hattie B. Stokes Elementary School. The LCSC Board of Trustees voted unanimously to hire Meyer at their regular meeting on Tuesday, March 17.
Mr. Hunt brings more than 30 years of experience in education, serving students and communities across a wide range of settings. Throughout his career, he has worked in schools around the world, including in Taiwan and through the Christel House global network, as well as in urban schools in Indianapolis and rural districts such as South Montgomery and South Spencer.
He has served both as a teacher and administrator, supporting learners from Pre-Kindergarten through adult education. His experience spans general education, English learner programs, and special education, providing him with a broad perspective on the opportunities and challenges schools face in meeting the needs of all students.
Mr. Hunt earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Butler University, a Master’s Degree in Education and K–12 Administrative Certification from Indiana Wesleyan University, and most recently completed an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Administration at Indiana State University.
He began his administrative career in 1999 as Assistant Principal at New Market Elementary and Title I Coordinator for South Montgomery Community School Corporation. He later served as Dean and Principal at Heather Hills Elementary.
Mr. Hunt also served as principal of Fall Creek Academy, a K–12 program in Indianapolis, where he helped lead school turnaround efforts and established a high school program on the Ivy Tech campus. He went on to become the founding principal of Christel House Academy West, launching the school and guiding its early growth and impact on the west side of Indianapolis.
He later served as principal of Rockport Elementary and Title Programs Administrator in the South Spencer School Corporation. During his time there, he was recognized as the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) District 11 Elementary Principal of the Year and was named Educator of the Year by Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana.
Most recently, Mr. Hunt has been leading the development of the new Tiger Cubs Pre-K program for LCSC, overseeing all aspects of planning and implementation ahead of its Fall 2026 opening.
“I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and families of Hattie B. Stokes Elementary,” said Mr. Hunt. “While I have truly valued my work in developing the Tiger Cubs Pre-K program, I am passionate about continuing to support students as they grow and thrive in their elementary years. I look forward to building strong relationships and continuing the great work already happening at Hattie B. Stokes.”
“Mr. Hunt is a proven leader with a deep commitment to students and a wealth of experience across a variety of educational settings,” said Maravene Inman, Director of Elementary Education. “His passion for student success, along with his ability to build strong school communities, makes him an excellent fit for Hattie B. Stokes Elementary. We are excited to welcome him into this role.”
Outside of school, Mr. Hunt has been happily married to his wife, Becky, for 31 years and is the proud father of three adult daughters. He also has two Great Danes he affectionately refers to as his “fur babies.”
