Whitestown, IN [May 1, 2026] – The Town of Whitestown is excited to announce that its first community dog park, Gateway Bark Park, is officially open. Located at 6150 Gateway East Drive, the new park offers a welcoming environment where dogs of all sizes can play.
Gateway Bark Park is 1.5 acres and is separated into two sections, one for large dogs and another for dogs under 30 pounds. Each section features open green space for play, as well as benches for dog owners. A walking path surrounds the play areas, providing additional space for exercise, and a wash station is available to rinse off muddy paws before heading home.
“Gateway Bark Park adds a new option to our parks system, giving residents another reason to get outside and play with their dogs,” stated Assistant Town Manager/Director of Parks, Dominic Cornett.
We are pleased to see such strong community interest in the new dog park. The program has reached its current capacity of 100 memberships. We will continue to monitor capacity and evaluate the possibility of adding more memberships over time. To maintain a safe and enjoyable environment, the number of registered dogs is limited to prevent overcrowding and to help protect the well-being of both pets and their owners.
Membership pricing is as follows:
Resident: $75 for the first dog
Non-Resident: $120 for the first dog
Additional Dogs (Resident and Non-Resident): $55 per dog*
*Limit of 3 dogs per household
“The opening of Gateway Bark Park is another step forward in our efforts to provide high-quality amenities that serve residents of all ages, including our residents’ pups,” said Town Manager Katie Barr.
