Boone County + Witham pledge transparent Parkview review

LEBANON — Boone County officials and Witham Health Services said May 8 that any potential affiliation between Witham and Parkview Health will go through a transparent process with public engagement before any vote is taken.

The two parties’ joint statement comes a month after Witham first shared its plans:

  • April 6 — Witham Health Services briefed the Boone County Commissioners and the County Council in executive session.
  • April 7 — Witham announced a non-binding Letter of Intent to explore an affiliation with Parkview Health.

No final decisions have been made. Per the joint statement, an Affiliation Agreement will require separate votes from the Boone County Commissioners, the Boone County Council, and the Witham Board of Trustees.

“We support a strong future for Witham and are committed to a process that benefits our community. We are taking the time to get this right.” — Boone County Commission President Tim Beyer

“We are all committed to a process where the public is informed before any vote is taken.” — County Council President Jennifer Hostetter

Beyer added that the priority is “ensuring that our county continues to have high-quality, locally accessible healthcare while positioning it for long-term success.”

There is no timeline set for completion. Once an Affiliation Agreement is ready, the county said it will be made available publicly with opportunity for community comment.

Residents can follow updates through Witham Health Services and watch local media for information about public meetings.
