LEBANON — Eli Lilly and Company announced an additional $4.5 billion investment at two of its three Lebanon sites on Wednesday, May 6, the company said in a news release. The new commitment brings Lilly’s total Indiana capital-expansion commitments to more than $21 billion since 2020.

Lilly said the new spend will fund new process designs and technologies at Lilly Lebanon API, along with the opening of Lilly Lebanon Advanced Therapies — the company’s first dedicated genetic-medicine manufacturing facility, which opened on Wednesday.

The Advanced Therapies site is designed, in the company’s words, to “support both clinical and commercial production of advanced therapies that target disease at the genetic level.”

The investment also extends to product mix at the Lebanon API site:

  • Zepbound and Mounjaro production was already announced for Lebanon in 2024.
  • The new investment adds Foundayo and retatrutide to the Lebanon production lineup.

The Lebanon API site is scheduled to open in 2027 and is expected to be the largest API production site in U.S. history, according to Lilly officials. Including Lilly Lebanon Advanced Therapies, Lilly Lebanon API, and the Lilly Medicine Foundry, the company is now planning three sites on the Lebanon LEAP campus.
