ZIONSVILLE — A Crew Carwash along U.S. 421 cleared its final approval April 20 when the Zionsville Plan Commission signed off on the development plan. The carwash will go in at 3245 U.S. 421 in Appaloosa Crossing, just north of Hoosier Fine Wine and Spirits.

Earlier the same morning, the Zionsville Town Council voted to amend town code to allow automatic car washes in the Urban and Rural Michigan Overlay district. The town council had initiated the code change earlier this year. The new code permits up to 18 vacuum bays per facility and prohibits self-serve car washes.

The 5,700-square-foot building will have seven vacuum bays on its south side. Operating hours are restricted to 7 a.m.–9 p.m. with all wash operations taking place inside the enclosed building. An 8-foot sound barrier on the east side and 50% lighting reduction after 10 p.m. are intended to limit impact on nearby residents. The town’s planning department will investigate sound levels if complaints are filed.

Customers will enter and exit off Appaloosa Drive.

“I’m all for this development. I think it’s a good producer of jobs in our community. It’s a business with a good reputation. I think it will be an asset to our community.” — Plan Commission Member Nick Plopper
