NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED RATES AND CHARGES Property owners, ratepayers and other interested parties in or served or to be served by the waterworks of the Town of Thorntown, Indiana (“Town”) are hereby notified that an ordinance amending rates and charges for the waterworks of the Town (“Rate Ordinance”), was introduced at a meeting of the Town Council held on February 16, 2026. At a meeting of the Town Council to be held at 7:00 p.m. on March 2, 2026 at Town Hall, 101 West Main Street , Thorntown, Indiana, there will be a public hearing on the matter of the rates and charges and consideration of adoption of the Rate Ordinance which provides as follows: The water rates and charges as follow are hereby adopted and established for the use of the service rendered by the Thorntown Waterworks Utility: Metered Flow Rates (per 1,000 gallons): First 5,000 Gallons $19.92 Next 10,000 Gallons 17.60 Next 15,000 Gallons 15.48 Next 20,000 Gallons 13.25 Over 50,000 Gallons 11.09 Monthly Minimum Charges: Meter Size: 5/8 Inch Meter $ 39.84 1 Inch Meter 79.51 1 1/4 Inch Meter 143.73 1 1/2 Inch Meter 199.16 2 Inch Meter 309.74 3 Inch Meter 553.15 4 Inch Meter 884.83 Public Fire Protection Charges (per month): Meter Size: 5/8 Inch Meter $ 10.83 1 Inch Meter 27.09 1 1/4 Inch Meter 41.12 1 1/2 Inch Meter 54.14 2 Inch Meter 86.64 3 Inch Meter 162.43 4 Inch Meter 270.69 Tap Fees 5/8 – 3/4 Inch Meter $1,200 Larger Meters Actual cost, not less than $1,200 Meter Deposit: $50 Reconnection Fees: $25 Penalties: 10% of first $3, then 2% of remaining balance Bad Check Charge: $25 Capacity Fee – Per EDU: $4,000 At such hearing and prior to final adoption of the Rate Ordinance all interested parties may appear and be heard.
