ZIONSVILLE — A May 1 phone call claiming bombs had been placed at Zionsville Community High School was determined to be not credible, but not before triggering a shelter-in-place and a full campus sweep by Zionsville Police, the Zionsville Police Department said.
Local dispatch received the threat around 2 p.m. The high school went into shelter-in-place protocols while officers swept the campus. Elementary students were released on time; high-school students were dismissed at the normal time once the threat was determined to be unfounded. Zionsville Community Schools provided updates to families every 10 minutes during the investigation, ZCS chief marketing and communications officer Janet Mann said.
ZPD Capt. Marius Klyyken said the department’s investigation began Friday evening and is focused on identifying who placed the call. Bomb threats and “swatting” calls — prank calls intended to draw an emergency response — are difficult to trace because callers commonly spoof phone numbers, Klyyken said.

Avon High School was also locked down on May 1 after a separate threat that was likewise determined to be unfounded.
