ZIONSVILLE — Plans for a U.S. Customs office at Indianapolis Executive Airport were unveiled October 29 by Zionsville Mayor John Stehr during the town’s State of the Town address, drawing praise from Boone County Commissioners and Council members in attendance.
The new customs office will let aircraft arriving from international destinations — such as Canada and the Caribbean — land directly at Indianapolis Executive Airport in Zionsville, eliminating the need to first stop at Indianapolis International Airport for customs clearance.

“This is going to be great for our region,” Boone County Council President Jennifer Hostetter said in the county’s announcement. “It will attract new tourism and business opportunities to our community and help put Zionsville and Boone County on the map. Indianapolis Executive is already the fifth-busiest non-towered airport in the United States, and this addition will only enhance its significance.”
Boone County Commission President Scott Pell said the development was a major step forward. “This will put Boone County on the world stage. Indy Executive airport already drives business — now it’s going global.”
Council member Aaron Williams, who represents the county on the Hamilton County Airport Authority, pointed to the economic impact. “Everyone in Boone County is going to benefit. From increased tax revenue through fueling and aircraft operations to the opportunities for new and existing businesses, this facility will help drive an economic boom for Boone County unlike anything we’ve seen before.”
