Boone County debuts new vote centers for May primary

LEBANON — Boone County is rolling out an expanded vote center model for the May 5 primary, allowing registered voters to cast a ballot at any designated location in the county regardless of their home precinct, county officials announced April 20.

Election Day voting will run 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at vote centers across the county including community churches, municipal buildings, libraries, and the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Early voting

Early absentee in-person voting started April 7 and runs through May 4 at the Boone County Courthouse. Highlights from the early voting calendar include weekday voting at the Courthouse from April 7–29, expanded hours and multiple satellite locations on April 30 and May 1 (with evening hours until 8 p.m.), countywide voting on Saturday, May 2, and a final early voting opportunity Monday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to noon.

“Vote centers are designed to make voting more convenient and accessible for all voters,” Boone County Clerk Lisa Bruder said in the announcement. “Although turnout is currently light, we expect participation to grow as Election Day approaches.”

A full list of vote center locations, dates, and times is available at boonecounty.in.gov or by contacting the Clerk’s Office.
