LEBANON — The Boone County Sheriff’s Office and partner agencies completed a two-day sex offender registry compliance sweep on April 21 and 22, verifying 63 of the county’s 73 registered offenders and opening nine new law enforcement investigations, according to a media release issued April 25.

The operation also produced seven community corrections and probation violation investigations and one arrest. Sheriff’s officials said Alexandru Ritz, 31, of Whitestown, was arrested for Violation of Community Corrections as a direct result of the sweep. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Investigators seized electronic devices for forensic examination, including three cellular phones, a desktop computer, a laptop, a gaming device, a tablet, and seven storage devices. Two additional cellular phones and a laptop were examined on scene and returned. The Sheriff’s Office said additional follow-up will include verification of social media accounts, email addresses, registered vehicles, residence and employment addresses, phone numbers, and other registry information.

The operation was coordinated by the Sheriff’s Office in partnership with Boone County Probation, Boone County Community Corrections, the CASE Task Force, the United States Marshals Service, the Lebanon Police Department, the Zionsville Police Department, the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, and the Knox County High Tech Crime Unit.
“Operations such as this reinforce a shared mission of accountability and protection for the citizens of Boone County,” the Sheriff’s Office said in the release.
